Role Overview & Responsibilities
As a UPS Aircraft Mechanic, you perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspection, and repair of UPS Airlines aircraft under FAA Part 43 regulations and UPS Airlines' FAA-approved Aircraft Maintenance Manual — returning each aircraft to airworthy status within the maintenance window that meets the daily flight operations schedule at UPS's Louisville Worldport hub.
- Scheduled Maintenance Execution: Complete UPS Airlines' scheduled maintenance checks — A Check (approximately every 500 flight hours), C Check (approximately every 18 to 24 months), and heavy D Check structural inspections — following the UPS Airlines Aircraft Maintenance Manual task card system, documenting every maintenance action in the TRAX MRO system with your A&P license number and FAA Certificate number as the approving return-to-service signature.
- Airworthiness Directive Compliance: Research and comply with applicable FAA Airworthiness Directives affecting the assigned aircraft fleet type — verifying AD applicability against the aircraft's serial number, accomplishing the AD-required inspection or modification within the compliance time frame, and completing the AD compliance entry in the aircraft's permanent maintenance records using the exact regulatory language required by 14 CFR Part 43.
- Aircraft Return-to-Service Authorization: Sign the FAA Form 337 or aircraft logbook return-to-service entry after completing each maintenance task — using your A&P certificate number to certify that the work was performed in accordance with the approved data and that the aircraft is airworthy for return to revenue service — a legal signature that carries full FAA regulatory weight and personal certificate liability.
