Role Overview & Responsibilities

As a UPS Trailer Loader, you construct outbound freight loads inside 53-foot linehaul trailers from sorted package output inside our fulfillment center, building every load to UPS's approved stacking method standards and completing each trailer before its hard departure window without compromising the package integrity that UPS delivery promises depend on.

• Method-Based Load Construction: Build outbound trailer loads following UPS's approved Trailer Loading Method — packages stacked floor to ceiling in columns, heavy items placed on the trailer floor in the first third of the build, lightweight packages stacked on top, fragile items top-positioned and cushioned, and each row of packages keyed into the row behind it to prevent forward shift during highway braking events.
• Weight Distribution Management: Monitor cumulative load weight distribution across the trailer floor — ensuring the heaviest freight clusters are concentrated between the trailer kingpin and the rear axle group rather than at the extremes — preventing axle overload violations that can ground the trailer at a weigh station and create a service failure for every package aboard.
• Departure Window Compliance: Track your assigned trailer's hard departure time displayed on the dock door management screen, communicating loading progress status to the outbound shipping associate every 20 minutes during the loading window and completing the final package placement, door closure, and seal application at least 10 minutes before the departure time to allow the yard truck to spot the trailer at the guard gate on schedule.
