Role Overview & Responsibilities
As a UPS Industrial Engineer, you apply industrial engineering methods — time study, methods analysis, process flow design, and data modeling — to optimize the operational performance of assigned package center or hub facilities, reducing per-unit labor cost and improving service quality through evidence-based operational redesign projects.
- Time Study & Methods Analysis: Conduct formal time studies on sort floor functions using UPS's elemental time data system and direct observation timing — measuring actual method execution times against the engineered standard time for each work element, identifying method deviations that generate above-standard time consumption, and designing corrective method changes that restore the functional area to engineered standard without increasing injury risk or reducing sort accuracy.
