Role Overview & Responsibilities

As a UPS Package Center Manager, you lead the full daily operations of an assigned package center — managing driver dispatch, sort operations, customer service, vehicle maintenance coordination, and associate development — against daily, weekly, and monthly performance targets that span safety, service quality, productivity, and cost efficiency simultaneously.

• Daily Operations Leadership: Open and close the package center on a daily operational cycle — conducting morning driver dispatch briefings using ORION route data, monitoring preload quality through DIAD-reported missed scan rates before drivers depart, reviewing midday service failure alerts in the UPS COMPASS performance dashboard, and conducting end-of-day service recovery planning for any packages that did not complete delivery during the route window.
• Associate Development & Labor Relations: Lead a management team of 3 to 8 supervisors and 80 to 300 hourly Teamsters-represented associates — conducting regular supervisor one-on-ones, facilitating progressive discipline conversations within the parameters of the Teamsters national master agreement, and managing the local grievance resolution process in partnership with the district labor relations manager to minimize arbitration escalations.
• Center P&L Management: Monitor and manage the package center's weekly cost per package, overtime percentage, misload rate, and vehicle maintenance cost against the district-assigned budget — identifying cost variance root causes within 48 hours of weekly report publication and deploying corrective operational changes that restore performance to plan before the next budget cycle closes.
