Role Overview & Responsibilities

As a UPS Package Loader, you specialize in outbound delivery vehicle load construction during the preload or night sort shift inside our package center — building package car loads in exact delivery stop sequence using the eDDR system, fragility rules, air package priority standards, and load quality walk-around protocols that produce the cleanest possible load for the driver assigned to each vehicle.

• eDDR Sequence Load Mastery: Build each assigned package car load in exact Electronic Daily Delivery Record stop sequence — reading the eDDR shelf position codes (A1 through E8) for every package at belt induction, placing each parcel with label facing outward in its correct shelf slot, and completing the full load without reversals, missequenced packages, or packages loaded into the wrong vehicle across your entire assigned car count for the shift.
• Fragility & Special Handling Placement: Identify fragile, high-value, perishable, and oversized packages at the sort belt and apply the correct special handling placement protocol — fragile packages placed top-shelf in the package car with label-up orientation and protective separation from heavy freight, high-value packages loaded in the driver's secure lock box, and refrigerated perishables grouped near the bulkhead door for minimal transit time exposure.
• Pre-Departure Load Walk-Around: Conduct a systematic pre-departure load walk-around inspection of each assigned vehicle in the 10 minutes before the driver arrival window — opening each shelf section, scanning a random 15-percent sample of packages against the eDDR to verify sequence integrity, identifying and immediately correcting any misloaded packages before the driver checks in to prevent a misload that generates a service failure credit and a customer complaint.
