What Our Team Says (Employee Reviews)
"Unloading trailers is genuinely hard work, but UPS gives you the tools, the training, and the team to do it right. My legs and back got so much stronger in the first month. The union pay is better than any warehouse job in this area, and I am already enrolled in the Earn & Learn program to finish my associate's degree. Best entry-level opportunity I have ever taken." - Current UPS Unloader, Dallas, TX.
Role Overview & Responsibilities
As a UPS Unloader, you physically pull packages from inbound 53-foot trailers and place them onto conveyor belts that feed the sort operation. Your pace and accuracy at the trailer mouth directly determines the throughput of the entire package center during your shift.
- Trailer Unloading: Enter loaded trailers and systematically pull packages from floor-to-ceiling stacks, placing every parcel label-side up on the inbound belt at a sustained rate that meets the facility's hourly unload target.
- Irreg Identification: Flag oversized packages, hazmat items, and irregularly shaped parcels at the point of unload, diverting them to the appropriate specialty lanes before they enter the main sort flow.
- Trailer Safety & Chocking: Verify trailer wheel chocks are in place and the dock plate is properly seated before entering any trailer, following UPS safety protocols at every door without exception.
Benefits & Perks
UPS Unloaders are covered by the Teamsters national contract from their first day, receiving union wages, medical, dental, and vision benefits, pension accrual, and eligibility for the UPS Earn & Learn tuition assistance program covering up to $25,000 in college education costs.
